He spoke with Journalists at the council secretariat, during the environmental sanitation in Eket. The Chairman said, part of their campaign promises was to clean up the town, and return it to her glory days, that the high level of compliance in the sanitation, is attributed to the sensitization carried out by leaders in different communities, and the media publicity.
He stated that, next month’s sanitation will witness another turn around, as the drive to get Eket people involved will be massive with strict regulations on movements.
On the defaulters who flout the order on sanitation, he said, those arrested in the next month’s sanitation, will face a sanitation court, which penalties for the offence will be determined.
Frank further said, Eket does not have a proper dump site at the moment, but there are talks with private firms to establish that.
I had a meeting with the Hausa community in Eket, and impressed on their leadership, the need for the Hausas to clean their environment, including the marina area, where they do business. And so far, the result has been impressive, the Chairman said.
He appreciated Governor Udom Emmanuel on the award of contracts for the construction of new roads in Eket, which the contractors have been mobilized to site.
