Liverpool showed strong form on Saturday as they overpower Hertha Berlin 3-0 in an away friendly against the German team.
Manager Juergen Klopp said he was pleased with how his team played but added there was still work to be done on their defence.
“We are not where we want to be but we appreciate we have to work hard and especially in England we have only this one pre-season and a long, long season. So at the moment, it’s good that everyone looks really positive.
“That’s how it should be but we have problems of course. But yes, the new players are maybe better than people thought they would be and that is how it is. I think we said it early that we want to build on the quality of the squad from last year. That is what we have tried to do and so for the moment we are really happy”.
The Liverpool manager also said his squad currently has a ‘few problems’ but he is still pleased with his side’s ‘positive’ approach to pre-season.
“At this moment, we don’t have a lot of injuries and that is the best news and if we can stay fit then we will be strong. Unfortunately, the other teams are also pretty strong in England; so we need to be”, Klopp added.
Liverpool’s Premier League season starts on Saturday 12 August with a trip to Watford.
